Empty Flights

Dear Yuri, (an aeroplanes view)

Where have you all gone?
No hustle and buzzle at airports.
Our wings feel empty with hardly any luggage.
No air hostesses hurriedly walking up and down ensuring you are all having a comfortable journey.
Now, for the majority of the flight even the hostesses get bored because of the very few customers on board.
We can’t remember the last time we were full with passenger’s on board.
Now most days, we sit alone at airports… waiting for a day where we can get busy again.
We want to welcome you all on board with open arms, we want to once again enlighten your journeys with us on board.
We want to once again fill up our tanks and travel around the world with you.
At times silence feels great, but in these strange times, the silence feels suffocating.
What we have learnt is when the world goes silent, we yearn for noise.
Noise is better, noise brings about joy, noise keeps us all going and keeps the world spinning.
At the moment it feels like everything is on pause. And all we can do is sit here and wait for the world to unpause, and for families to rush on board with their suitcases and sunglasses and boarding cards.
Easyjet, Ryanair, Emirates…. we use to all compete- now all we do is wait.
We are all in this together, none of us are better than each other.

We hope to see you all soon, where we once again say ‘Enjoy your flight with us’.

Aeroplane.
