My Hometown During Lockdown

Dear Yuri,

I am wondering about abrupt, unforeseen and unanticipated changes, about which we haven’t envisaged and imagined. The current situation of lockdown due to Covid-19 is one of those sudden changes which has entirely changed our world; the world of social animals. My hometown Chitral is one of the region of Pakistan which is blessed with natural bounties, and currently its spring here. Spring in Chitral; green grass spread over valleys and hills, trees loaded with blossoms, spring flowers adding hues to nature, birds of spring singing the songs of new beginning of the year. Not only the colour and hues beautify and adorn my place, but; the farmers working hard on their fields, the gardeners taking care of their orchards, children playing under the open sky, families enjoying picnic in different spot and shopkeepers providing spring stuffs to people.

But this time it is different, it looks like that the world has been stopped for us. These days are like terrifying nightmares, where we are afraid to get killed if we came out from our homes. The scenery is the same, the flowers, green grass, blossoms, sweet melody of river near my home but people who meant to be present to enjoy and make this season more beautiful are absent.

Every year people used to be busy in arranging the spring festivals with enthusiasm but now those days are like beautiful dreams. Increasing number of patients compel all to stay inside their homes. Children for whom staying inside is more than a punishment are stuck between four walls. Labourers and shopkeepers are forced to stop their works. Going to school and to other educational institutes has been difficult. Human life is ceased now, but let not fade our hopes, lets change this hard time with our prayers and let’s promise to take care of each other and our nature.

We will definitely come out from this bad time. STAY SAFE.
