Apart Yet Never Closer

Dear Yuri,

I feel connected, I feel aligned, I feel inspired. I wake up every morning feeling an immense amount of gratitude and I write very much from a place of privilege when I say that I think of this time as precious. I count my lucky stars that I have a family. And I pray every night for those that don’t.

Living apart from one another is heart breaking but losing a loved one is tenfold. Due to this new rule called social distancing, the way in which we’ve managed to display togetherness is beyond beautiful. Some of us are actually talking to our neighbours for the first time or calling up our old friends to check in on them. We’re singing songs from our gardens and showing appreciation for our selfless key workers. We’re being present and reading books that we’ve never had the time to read until now. We’re soul searching, we’re learning, we’re writing, and we’re creating all kinds of magic.

So as the world continues to spin, the flowers continue to blossom, the sun continues to shine, the birds still build their nests and the waves still clasp the shore… We might be forced to stand still, but do not be misled, for this is only a painful reminder that, it’s not the universe who needs us, it’s we who need the universe. And we need each other. We need each other now and always.
