Mouth of The Tyne

Dear Yuri,

I am one of the lucky ones. I have a beautiful expansive view of my little corner of the world. I sit above the mouth of the river Tyne as it leads out to the beautiful blue North Sea. Daily comings and goings on the navigable waters keep me connected to the wider world. Boats come in and out transferring cargo, making me wonder where they have been or are going to.

The sea changes daily, sometimes angry and wild, smashing waves of spray over the lighthouse piers that encircle the mouth of the river. Sometimes she’s calm and inviting, the sun or moonlight rippling over her, illuminating her surface like a thousand diamonds catching the light. I stand at my window and long to be enveloped in her cold arms, I miss the water terribly but she’s there to remind me of her presence. At night I can her whispering to me, I’m here, I’m here.

I thank the universe everyday for the world from my window, how lucky I am to see so much sky, water and land. Lighthouses, statues, church steeples and a Roman fort to gaze upon. Not to mention the noisy gulls who provide part of my soundtrack.

I appreciate the world from my window in North Tyneside more than ever before.

With very best wishes, I hope to see you all soon.
