Silent

Dear Yuri,

Outside is quiet and our planet stands still, deceptively resembling a moment of tranquil.
Lights blare from TV screen lit rooms, the humming and buzzing from late night Zooms.
Each home an island surrounded by fear, constrained by our morals, the health of our family and peers.

Outside is quiet but our minds are loud, anxiety arises at the thought of a crowd.
We cannot disconnect from the clouds in our head, when each news notification tone fills you with dread.
One day becomes the next with striking familiarity, contemplating what our lives will look like in a newfound ‘normality’.

Outside is silent.
